Shin splints

Pain or aching along the shin during running, walking, or training can quickly limit how much you are able to do.

Commonly referred to as shin splints, these symptoms often develop when the muscles and surrounding tissues of the lower leg are repeatedly exposed to more load than they are currently prepared to handle.

At Harkoa, we look beyond the painful area. Limited ankle mobility, tight calves, changes in training volume, running mechanics, footwear, and weakness through the feet, ankles, and hips can all influence the amount of stress placed through the lower leg.

Treatment combines SCT Release with slow, targeted deep tissue techniques to address tight muscles and restricted fascia through the shin, calf, ankle, and surrounding areas. Our focus is to reduce tension, improve mobility, and restore comfortable movement.

We then look at building capacity. Where appropriate, targeted strengthening and mobility exercises for the feet, ankles, calves, and hips help improve how your body handles the demands of running and training.

Our goal is to get you moving comfortably again and build the strength and mobility needed to keep you doing what you love.
